Feet in Water, Shots, and Back Home

Well, before we headed back home today for my immunization shots (OUCH!), I finally got to experience my first 'dip' into the waters of Northport Bay. Click here to see it! :-) I really liked it. Mommy thought that I might pull my feet up and cry, but I didn't cry at all. I kicked my feet and watched the sun reflecting in the water and then stuck my toes in the sand. It was fun! Mommy swung me back and forth so that I could make splashes. We drove back to Grand Rapids on Wednesday morning, and I got my shots - FIVE of them! It hurt and made me pretty mad. My face got bright red! But I recovered pretty quickly with some snuggles from mommy. Then I took a really long nap to help me recuperate.

Now we're back home and I'm happy!

Boat Rides and Golf

Well, it's been a couple of busy days for me. I've been on lots of stroller walks. I went to the golf course in the peekaboo sling and watched daddy golf. Apparently I'm good luck, because daddy plays better when I'm around. And I took my first boat ride yesterday with Mouse, Papa Jon, mommy, and daddy. I liked it, even though it got a little windy for me at the end. It was a very calm evening and we went really slowly. I wore my nautical outfit; it was very cute and funny.

We took some family photos on Sunday by the chapel. I was a good sport, but I got kinda bored and fussy at the end. That's a lot of sitting and being good. Good grief.

We're going home tomorrow. It's sad to leave, because it's so beautiful here, but I'm excited to get home to my own bedroom. I like it there!

Northport Point

We made it to the cottage on Friday about 4:30pm. It was a good drive with a couple of stops for shopping. Daddy sat in the back with me and fed me a bottle when I got hungry. It was fun to have him back there. We stopped in Sutton's Bay and went to daddy's favorite store, and then mommy checked out the new kid's store.

Friday night, Papa Jon arrived from Indianapolis and held me on the deck. It was a beautiful sunset, and everyone ate whitefish and corn. When we all woke up Saturday, it was very rainy, but it cleared up later in the day. Mommy, Mouse, and I went for a long stroller walk, and then we all went to Leland for a little shopping adventure. Mommy got a water bottle with a big smiley face on it.It says "life is good", and she's going to take it with her when she goes back to work so she remembers to smile, even though she'll be missing me. We went to the Happy Hour for dinner, and I was on my best behavior. Daddy and mommy had cheeseburgers and fried cauliflower. YUM! They said that next year at this time, I'll be eating grilled cheese and french fries with lots of ketchup. Right now, I think I'll just stick to milk.

Now it's Sunday morning, and it's a beautiful sunny day so far. We're going to go for a golf cart ride later and then we'll put some new pictures up. This picture now is from the cottage over the fourth of July. I fell asleep with daddy on the couch. I was only 8 days old!

Two Months Old

Yesterday was my two month birthday, and today I had my two month doctor visit. I weigh 13 pounds, 7 ounces (95th percentile); I am 23 inches long (60th percentile); and my head is 41 cm (75th percentile). The doctor says I'm perfectly proportioned and NOT FAT, even though daddy sometimes teases me and mommy about my big appetite. I'm also completely healthy, and the doctor told mommy that she is doing a great job! I think so too!!

Mommy and daddy are going to take me to get my shots tomorrow morning - boy, that's something mommy is a little nervous about. I'm sure we'll be fine though. After shots, we're driving up to Northport for the weekend, and Dakota is coming too. YAY! It will be fun to have family time without any interruptions of daddy's pager. We're going to go for lots of walks, and Dakota is going swimming, and I might even stick my feet in the lake. And hopefully mommy will get to kayak while I'm taking a nap.

This is a picture that daddy just found - it's of all three of us over the fourth of July weekend. I was so little!

Happy Baby

Yesterday was a big day. Mommy took me to G.G.'s house, and I stayed there for 4 hours. Mommy wanted to practice to see what it's going to be like when she goes back to work, so G.G. was nice and said that she would take care of me.

We had a good time. I took a little nap and I had a nice snack, and then we played on the couch for a while. I like G.G. And she seems to like me; she was awfully excited when I got there. Her dog, Woody, was very excited too. He barked and barked! Even though mommy missed me a lot, she had a good day, too. She did lots of errands and then had lunch with daddy.

Today, daddy got home early. It's a very nice thing when that happens! We're having fun.
This picture is me in my caterpillar sleeper. It's daddy's favorite - he thinks I look really cute! I was looking over daddy's shoulder and mommy made me laugh.

Sunday Morning

Well, it's a beautiful day! After my morning nap, we're all going to go for a walk all the way around the lake. That will be my first time to do that. Dakota has done it lots, and he tells me it's pretty fun. I've been building up my walk endurance, so I think it will be OK. Right now, daddy is reading the Sunday paper, and he's so happy, because he gets to read the whole thing without any possible interruptions from his pager.

Yesterday, mommy and daddy and I went to a movie. I took a very nice nap in my Peekaboo during it, and even though mommy kept laughing and therefore jostling me up and down, I didn't wake up at all. We saw "The 40-year-old Virgin"; apparently it was pretty funny, because I enjoyed all the rocking from mommy's laugh.

Baby Shower and Bath

Today is Saturday, and I had a nice bath. I really like bath time. I think it's funny when mommy uses the sprayer to rinse my hair, and it gives me a really good chance to kick my legs around and make splashes. I'm always sleepy after my bath and I take a nice nap. When I wake up, mommy says I smell yummy and she kisses my neck.

On Tuesday, mommy and I drove up to Northport. We stayed at the cottage with Mouse, Aunt Kathy, and my cousins, Jake and Jessica. We went up there to go to the Alley baby shower.

Pim is having a baby boy in September - he is due exactly three months after I was due. Everyone is very excited, including me. It will be great to have a friend to play with when we visit the cottage. Mommy and I were going to stay until Friday, but we came home a day early, because Jessica got sick. Bummer.

When we got home, after a very long drive in the rain, we had dinner with our neighbors. It was nice of them to invite us over. Daddy is not on call this weekend, so we're having lots of family time. Right now, he is vacuuming - go figure! He LOVES to vacuum. But he loves me more!

Long Walks and Ice Cream

Well, we had a good weekend. Daddy was on-call, and the hospital was pretty busy, so he kept getting called in to do stuff, but we still got to spend some time together. On Friday I took a really long nap, and mommy and daddy actually had some quiet time to spend together. When I woke up, we all went for a walk. I fell asleep in my pajamas at about 10pm, and I didn't wake up until 5:30 in the morning!! Mommy woke up earlier, though, because she was so surprised that I wasn't awake. WOW! Mommy and daddy were both really proud of me. I knew they would be when I finally decided to get some sleep.

On Sunday, Mouse came to visit. She was on her way to the cottage to see my cousins, Jake and Jessica. She hadn't seen me since I was three weeks old, and she was very impressed with how big I am. She was also impressed with how well I sleep in my crib. Who knew that this family would be so crazy about sleep? They're so silly! It seems pretty easy to me. And I like my crib in my room - it's nice and pretty in there.

Sunday morning, mommy and dakota and I walked for an hour and a half. It was really fun. I slept for some of the time, but the rest of the walk, I just looked around and enjoyed the view. We walked again after dinner, when mommy and daddy went to Jersey Junction to get ice cream. Yum!

Sleep!

Mommy and I are having sleep struggles. I used to be a really good sleeper, but the past week, I'm a lot more interested in playing and spending time with mommy and daddy. Who needs sleep? Apparently, mommy thinks I do, because she is determined to get me into that bed! I have to admit, I am a lot happier after a good nap, but it's so hard to give in to sleep when there is so much fun to be had.

One great thing about being more interested in my surroundings is all the fun we're having. I like my stroller trips, and I love to spend time in my swing, looking at the animals and out the window.

Time on my changing table is the best! I smile and laugh with mommy, and my octopus toy really makes me grin.

New Fun

Today mommy got out my Baby Einstein playmat. It is really fun! There are lots of bright colors and neat toys to look at, and in the center, there is a star that lights up and plays music. I like it!

This morning, Dakota was really funny. Mommy thought I was ready for my nap, so she put me in my crib. Turns out, I wasn't really quite ready, so I started crying. I was just getting myself worked up into some loud screams when Dakota came into my room and sat right by my crib. He was very concerned, and he started whining for mommy to come get me. Between my cries and Dakota's whimpering, mommy came right in and picked me up. She also gave Dakota a good pat for being such a sweet dog and looking out for me.

Good Two Week Visit

Yesterday started out a little bit sad, because Ems had to leave us to go back to Colorado. We had a wonderful two week visit! I had such a good time with Ems, and I can't wait until I get to see her again. While she was here, I saved up some of my best smiles for her, just so she'd know how much I love her. Even though we were all sad that she had to leave, mommy and daddy and I had a nice weekend, spending time together. We went on a long walk this morning, and I fell asleep in my stroller.

On Friday, Ems, mommy, and I went to Holland for a day trip. It's a neat town. We went to a fun bookstore and wandered around the downtown area. Then we went to the Carter's outlet, and mommy got lots of clothes for me, because I'm growing so fast. Ems got me a really neat octopus toy that is now hanging above my changing table so that I have something fun to look at. It makes me laugh!

I like to look at it, but only when I'm not staring at the ceiling fan. The fan is definitely the most entertaining thing in my life right now. Wow!

Hot Weather Again

Another busy week. Mommy, daddy, and I had a nice weekend at home. Ems went to her high school reunion in Plymouth; she had a lot of fun. She returned to us on Sunday, and I was very happy to see her. During the weekend, the weather was perfect, and I went on lots of walks in my stroller and in the peekaboo sling. Now it's hot again, so we're spending more time inside.

Monday night, we had dinner with Grandpa Chip and Stacie at their house. We sat on the deck and daddy held me. The drive home was the first time I have ever been in the car in the dark. It was okay though, because I held onto Ems' thumb the whole time.

On Tuesday afternoon, daddy came home early from work. Mommy and Ems went to Rockford for a little outing, and I stayed home with daddy. He gave me a bottle when I woke up from my nap and then we spent some time on the porch. While they were out, Ems got me a new, very soft, cuddly teddy bear.

Our block party was Tuesday night. All the neighbors got together in the middle of the street and had a picnic. It was pretty fun, but we went home early because it was time for me to eat. Maybe next year, I'll be playing with all of the other kids on the block.
