Busy Week

We have had such a busy week. I have been having a really great time with Grammie Ems. She rocks me and holds me a lot. And she reads my books to me and sings songs and makes silly faces. And then I smile at her to show her how much I love her. It's been so much fun to have her here.

On Thursday, we went to mommy's office and a lot of people got to meet me. I was a little tired, so I wasn't really at my best, but people still thought that mommy and daddy have a really cute baby. One of the doctors laughed and said that she thinks I have a temper, because I was yelling so loudly. It works though, because mommy took me right out of my car seat without delay. And then I was adorable again. I've figured the system out.

Then we went on a picnic by Reed's Lake. It was such a nice day. Dakota got to swim in the lake. He was very happy, and he chased some ducks. It was funny. That afternoon, daddy came home a little early, and so I spent lots of time with him. He fed me and cuddled me. It was nice.

On Friday, I took a nap in my big crib for almost 3 hours. There were a lot of new things to look at and examine, but I finally fell asleep, and mommy was so happy. She's such a push-over. One of these days, I'll sleep a lot at night. Boy, she'll be so happy then; she won't know what hit her.

More Firsts

I am having so much fun spending time with my Grammie Ems. She is almost as good of a cuddler as mommy. Yesterday, she gave me my first bottle, and I didn't mind it so much. I ate 3 ounces without any trouble. This is very exciting because now daddy can help feed me. He's really looking forward to that. Too bad he's been really busy at work the past couple of days, because I haven't gotten to see him very much. But tomorrow is supposed to be a shorter day, so hopefully we'll get to have some good time together.

Today G.G. dropped by to see me. She and Grammie Ems talked a lot about how cute I am. They're still trying to figure out who I look like - sometimes it's mommy, sometimes it's daddy. Then we went on a walk in my stroller and Dakota came along. I took a nice nap while we walked. Dakota is very protective of me and the stroller. He's constantly on the lookout to make sure that he's near me. I like him!

Happy One-Month Birthday

I'm one whole month old today. And it's a big day, because Grammie Ems from Colorado arrived! She is going to stay and visit for a while. I'm very happy.

This morning, while mommy was changing my diaper, I smiled. At first she wasn't sure whether or not it was a real smile, but then I did it again. And when Ems arrived, I did it again! It's definitely a real smile. And mommy is so excited whenever I do it. I think I'll probably do it some more.

Another new thing is my swing. It's pretty fun. And one time, I even fell asleep in it because it was so comfy. It's pretty neat that every new day is a new adventure.

The Big Weigh-In

Today we spent time hanging around at home. I took a lot of snoozes while Mommy and Daddy did things around the house. This was nice and relaxing, especially after yesterday. That was errand day. We all did loads of errands and stocked the fridge. We also visited G.G. and delivered her birthday present. She got to cuddle me. That was fun! Dakota got a hair cut, and he's much happier now because he looks cute, and he is staying cool in the very hot weather.

Today I fell asleep in a big chair in Daddy's Office. It was so comfy - I slept for a very long time. When I woke up, we all went across the street to visit our neighbors. Everyone put me on a baby scale and then acted really excited. I weigh 10 pounds and 14 ounces. Wow! That means that I've gained over 3 pounds in four weeks. No wonder Daddy keeps teasing Mommy about fattening me up. I guess I'm just a hungry boy.

Home Again

Well, we're home now and it's nice to be back. My schedule is a little messed up - that's a lot of traveling for a little guy like me.

These are the things I like to do the most: eat, look at bright lights, stare out of the window, sit in my bouncy chair, cuddle with mommy and daddy. My best time is morning. That's when I'm most happy.

I'm getting very strong. If I'm on my tummy, I can lift my head and do baby push-ups. Mommy and daddy are very impressed with this.

The First Three Weeks

I have had a very busy three weeks. I was born and everyone proclaimed me the cutest baby ever. I had so many visitors in the hospital, because mommy and daddy both work there, and everyone wanted to come see me. My most special visitors were both of my grandmas! They both love me very much, and they had fun trying to decide who I look like. Most people think I have my daddy's ears and my mommy's nose, but other than that, they just think that I look like ME.

Late Saturday, June 25th, I got to leave the hospital and see my house and meet Dakota, our Golden Retriever. He was a little shocked by me, and actually much more interested in seeing mommy, but he's coming around. I like my house, and my bedroom is almost as cute as I am.

On Sunday, I met a lot of family: Great Grandma Parker and her husband Bob, Grandpa Chip and Stacie, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Chris, and my cousins, Jake and Jessica, came to visit me at our house. I slept through the entire event.

The first week at home was good. Daddy had to work a lot, so that was too bad, but I spent lots of time with mommy. She spent so much of every day just staring at me and kissing me. I think she really likes me!

A week after I was born, we all drove to northern Michigan for the Fourth of July weekend. My daddy has been going to Northport Point and his family's cottage since he was a baby, and he was excited to show me off. I liked my first long car trip; I slept the whole way. I met tons of people - everyone was very nice and, once again, everyone said that I'm the cutest baby ever! I got to meet my Great Grandma Lewis (I call her G.G.).

We went to the annual 4th of July picnic, to the Pointer for lunch, and for a golf cart ride in the Peekaboo sling with mommy to watch daddy play golf.

On Saturday, July 9th, the whole family drove to Indianapolis to stay with grandma (I call her mouse) and Papa Jon. Daddy had a medical conference, and mommy and I went with him so that we could all spend lots of time together. Mouse was really nice and helped take care of me and mommy and daddy. Every morning, I spent time with her on the sun porch. It was fun! While we were there, I got stronger and bigger. Daddy started calling me Chunky Monkey, because I’m getting kind of pudgy. We were in Indianapolis for 10 days – I did lots of things while I was there.

I had my first shower with daddy, my first full bath in the sink, I went to the pool and dipped my toes in the water, and I went to a movie, “The Wedding Crashers,” in the new blue Peekaboo Sling with mommy and daddy. Dakota had a good time, too, because he went on a lot of walks with Mouse and her dog, Blue.

I was sad to say goodbye to Mouse and Papa Jon, but I’m excited to get back to our house in East Grand Rapids. And Grammie Ems is coming to visit on Sunday!

Talk to you again soon !

The Beginning

This is the First Installment of my new blog. Amazing, I am writing and on-line already. Here is a picture of me when I was born on June 24th, 2005. I was 7 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Wow.
